Harvesting the Sun to Power an Economic Boon to Gorham Township and Fulton County

Repsol Renewables is developing a utility-scale solar project in Gorham Township, Fulton County, Ohio and expects to install up to 199 megawatts (MW) of solar energy in the area, which has the potential to power more than 45,000 homes in Ohio annually. The solar project will be connected to the East Fayette Substation via a 2.2-mile-long, 138 kilovolt transmission line that will be sited wholly within the project boundary.

The Ritter Station Solar Project (Ritter Station Solar) is working towards filing an application with the Ohio Power Siting Board in early 2025, with a target commercial operation date of Q4 2027.

The Ritter Station Solar Project will Provide Long-Term Benefits to Gorham Township and Fulton County

Providing tens of millions of dollars in tax revenues over the life of the Project, which can be used for road upgrades, schools, public safety, and other critically important infrastructure services to Gorham Township, Fulton County, the Fayette Local School District, the Gorham-Fayette Fire Department, and other local organizations.

Creating up to 200 family-wage construction jobs directly during construction with even more during peak construction times, 80% of which will be sourced from the State of Ohio.

Paying tens of millions of dollars to local landowners over the life of the Project through annual lease payments, easement agreements, and good neighbor agreements, resulting in a consistent stream of revenue that can protect against fluctuating commodity prices and help maintain family farms.

Enhancing local economic impact by sourcing Ohio-based equipment, materials, and labor when feasible in all phases – development, construction, and operations.

Implementing best-in-class pollinator-friendly vegetation, which will enhance soil health, ecological diversity, and hydrological cycles while providing critical pollinating services for nearby farms.

Why Gorham Township?

Repsol Renewables has identified the area within Gorham Township as suitable for solar development because of its proximity to the existing transmission system with available capacity, a compatible solar resource, site suitability with existing land use, and minimal anticipated environmental impacts.

Develop a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan that outlines plans for sediment and erosion controls to manage any stormwater discharged from the project site

Work with state and federal agencies and stakeholders to ensure that potential environmental impacts are fully considered, minimized, and mitigated

Sound

Conduct a noise impact assessment to develop mitigation recommendations to ensure that the project meets applicable sound limits

Visual

Conduct a visual impact analysis to assure that potential visual impacts from the project are minimized through a variety of screening practices

Closure

Implement financial securities that will guarantee responsible decommissioning and restoration at the end of the project’s life
